November 10th - November 11th, 2017
They say experience is the best teacher. We’re taking a weekend to experience as much as we can surrounding homelessness in Minneapolis. Over the two days we will work to serve the homeless community while learning about the cycle of poverty and root causes of homelessness.
On Friday night you’ll have a chance to brave the elements and see if you could survive a night on the street.
Don’t miss a chance to serve others, hear stories, and push your own limits, it’s going to be a great experience.
Pizza with the Pastors
November 12th, 2017
If you are newer to Northwood please join us for a lunch to meet the pastors and other newer to Northwood folk.
It’s a casual event with Salad, pizza, and beverages. Bring your kids, too, and they can spend some time in the Maple Maze after lunch.
Go to room 133 in the Community Center on Sunday, November 12 at noon.
30 Hour Famine
November 17th - November 18th, 2017
In our culture, it is very rare to truly be in need of physical things. That’s why, for 30 hours, we go without food as a group. It helps us better understand what it is to be in need. We go to Urban Ventures and hear about the physical needs of people only a few miles from our home. It’s a powerful experience. So here’s how it works. On Friday, November 17 we eat lunch, that will be our last meal until supper on Saturday.
We gather at the Northwood House at 7pm on Friday and head down to The Hub in south Minneapolis. We spend the next 24 hours together serving the people of the Philips neighborhood and experiencing what it is to be in need. Afterwards, we’ll gather with our families at the Northwood House to share a meal and share about our experience. Invite your friends and join us for a can’t-miss experience.
